Campaign Website Checklist for First-Time Candidates

A short checklist can keep a new campaign from losing time to missing copy, unclear approvals, or links that were never tested.

Before design begins

Choose one campaign decision-maker. Gather the biography, issues, logo, photos, contact details, social links, donation path, volunteer path, election information, and required disclaimers.

During the build

Review the page outline before reviewing colors. Confirm that the order of information makes sense. Then check the desktop and mobile layouts, links, forms, page titles, image crops, and calls to action.

Before launch

Test every navigation and campaign tool link. Confirm election and voting details with an authoritative source. Review privacy and consent language for forms and SMS. Confirm who owns the domain, hosting, accounts, and passwords.

Keep an approval record

Store the final copy, required disclaimer, tool decisions, and approval date in one place. That record helps the campaign understand what was published and when.

Political campaign requirements vary by jurisdiction and committee type. Campaigns should review election, donation, privacy, SMS, and messaging language with the appropriate qualified advisor.
